Usually when we think about a combination of beauty and technology, we automatically think about cars. And there is nothing wrong with that – in the end this is how the world operates today. It turns out, however, that people from Sweetgrass needed “only” half of the month, inventory weighing more than 4000 kg and more than 14,000 LED lights to prove to us that sometimes we should think otherwise. And, of course, they needed money. Incredible amounts of money. And although Nick Waggoner, co-director of this studio admits that his company spent more to shoot a 12-minute “Afterglow” during six weeks than they did during the two years process of creating their last feature-length film, the effect is probably worth it. In the end, beyond the same technical issues, they had to have a great quantity of innovative minds and genius willpower to make a project as difficult as “Afterglow”, which is the latest piece from Sweetgrass Productions. The project is based on showing how spectacular can be skiing, when each of the two skiers’ suits has 7 thousand illuminated LEDs sewed into it. We have no words to express how much we admire these people – and believe us, we really do. In fact, we admire them so much, that we’ve already seen this above 3-minute trailer dozens of times – and each time it surprises us with something new. Be sure to check it out before tomorrow, when premiere of the project’s full version will take place, and if you want to know more info on the details of this thing – visit WIRED.com
